The Lost Boys Mailing List | The FanFic Mailing List | List Mumbo-Jumbo
This is a combination of work from Sammy on the original Lost Cave, and my own stuff. Mostly, hers is the stuff concerning the mailing lists and Maria, but anything regarding the site, which I, Sarah, maintain and therefore have to keep updating, is my work.

The Lost Boys Mailing List Answers
- How do I unsubscribe?
Send a blank message to thelostboys-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com. Do not write anything in the subject line or the message body. Or go to Yahoo!Groups sign in with your Yahoo ID and password, and select unsubscribe by the name of the mailing list. - How can my friend subscribe?
Have your friend either visit The Lost Boys at Yahoo!Groups or send a blank message to thelostboys-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. There should be nothing written in the subject line or message body. Your friend should be subscribed within 3 days (sometimes it takes me a little while to approve new subscriptions). Your friend can also subscribe at my site under “Mailing Lists.” - I’m a new member. Why are my posts sent to the moderator for approval when the list itself isn’t moderated?
The Lost Boys mailing list is a very friendly list. We all really like each other. We want to keep it that way. Some new members don’t understand what the list is all about and cause trouble. So all new members are moderated until I feel they understand the list and the list members understand the new member. It’s a temporary situation and purely to maintain the friendly atmosphere of our mailing list. - Why do some of my posts get rejected by the moderator?
This list is not moderated. You can post freely within the list rules. Sometimes the messages get duplicated, and I get sent the duplicates to “moderate.” Since the message has already gone through, I have to “reject” the duplicate. You aren’t being picked on, don’t worry! We just don’t need to see the same message twice! So, whenever you get a message back saying the moderator rejected your post, don’t worry about it. It was just a copy of your original message. - Why aren’t my posts going through?
You’re probably posting to the list under a different email address. Please make sure to post to the list using the email address you subscribed with. For example, if you’re subscribed to the Lost Boys list with freddie@server.com, you must use that address to post to the list. You cannot use clyde@otherserver.com. This causes a lot of work for me, so please make sure to get this right. This is strictly to keep spam messages off our list, not to make your life harder. :^) If you are posting under the address you subscribed with and your mail doesn’t seem to be coming through, it could be that the email is slow. Check back in a few hours, your post will probably have come through. If you still can’t post, let me know. Egroups has this “bouncing” announcer that sometimes interferes with delivery. I’ll reset it for you. - What does bouncing mean?
It’s nothing serious. “Bouncing” is the term they use for when your message could not be delivered to its destination, so it “bounces” back. This usually happens when an email inbox is full. This shouldn’t happen to you if you keep up with the mail in your inbox. A bounce can also be caused by the sluggishness of the internet at times. - Why have I stopped getting mail from the list?
It’s that bouncing thing again. If you have stopped getting messages from the list, it’s because eGroups has your delivery status set at bouncing. Periodically I will “unbounce” list members, and then mail delivery should begin again. If your inbox is full and starts causing bouncing, a good idea is to visit egroups.com and change your message delivery to Web or Digest until you get caught up. If I see that you are continually bouncing, I will unsubscribe your email address. Please don’t take it personally. Just subscribe again. :^) - I can’t subscribe to the list. What should I do?
Some email addresses don’t seem to work very well with Yahoo Groups. If you can’t seem to subscribe to the list, or if you’re not getting mail from the list, try unsubscribing from the list and then resubscribing under a different email address. For instance, if blahblahblah@server.com isn’t working with the list, try suchandsuch@otherserver.com (another of your email addresses). - How do I subscribe under another email address?
Visit Mailing Lists, then put your other email address in the appropriate box. Or go to The Lost Boys at Yahoo!Groups. Or you can send a blank message to thelostboys-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. There should be nothing written in the subject line or message body. You will have to unsubscribe from your old address unless you want to receive mail from the Lost Boys list to both your accounts. - Why can’t I access the message archives?
The list archives are closed to the public. Only list members can read our archives. You must be registered with Yahoo! Groups to access the archives. Relax, it’s free. If you don’t already have an account with Yahoo, just go to Yahoo.com and sign up. Then you will have to set up your email account (the one you’re subscribed to the list under, for example name@provider.com) and password with your Yahoo ID. From then on, you can go to The Lost Boys at Yahoo!Groups and click on “Messages” to read the archives.
